The Hybrid.
If it's not yet obvious by now, I'm pretty much obsessed with Star Wars. ;P Well, back in 2010, I heard news that a Star Wars themed MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) game was going to come out and it was gonna be set in my favourite era, the Old Republic, which is set 3,000 years before the movies. The Old Republic era is basically considered by Lucasarts(Disney now) as non-canon, but legends. In non geek terms, any material to come out of this certain time frame may or may not have happened, and should be taken with a grain of salt. Okay, maybe a whole dispenser of it. In short, the makers of Knights of The Old Republic (one of the best games ever!) were making an MMO game set in this time frame, a time where Jedi and Sith were both a plenty, locked in a never ending, good vs evil battle for control of the known galaxy. Sheesh, what a nerd. lol.
What did it mean? Yay, I can make my own character, put some backstory and make it 'live' in the Star Wars universe! So, Sibb was born. I really like dreads a lot. I reckon they're one of the coolest things ever and though I never got one (not yet) I've always wanted my imaginary characters to have some form of it or another. So I did the sketch below. Realized I wanted the dreads white..but then as I sketched more and more, the dreads sort of evolved into this tentacle-thingy..and wanted him to have a mask because he has a mysterious and troubled past. He's been through a lot, and he's been 'used' since he was a child for evil things, but the light side of the force changed him one day and from then on, he's been changed since. So although he may look like someone who's involved with the Sith, he really has the kindest of hearts. Sorry, geeked out there!

Oh well, continued doing heaps of sketches, then realized I wanted something different, I wanted a real, physical form of this character propped up on my 'workbench' or something. It was the perfect time to re-acquaint myself with sculpting too. To be honest, I haven't sculpted anything since I was 8. But I knew I've always loved sculpting. Loved shaping something from my barehands, turning a shapeless lump of clay into something beautiful. So I jumped into it and I'm still dreaming of one day being able to do this almost everyday of my life.

Look ma, no pants! Lost most of the 'work-in-progress' shots when our old external drive went bust, so I could only get the images below. Still very rough and needs a little bit more 'trimming'... ;P

...and, done? Brushed on some baby oil to smoothen it a little bit. These are the images I put up on deviantart, during that moment, I was most likely happy of what I've done, otherwise, I wouldn't have taken a lot of fancy photos. ;P

Sibb now sits in a box, and though I haven't really made any changes, looking at these photos now, I feel there's still so much I could do to improve it overall. Then, maybe, I can get to cast him! Hopefully, I'll be able to do it somewhere down the road. :)
